ROPA Method: Shared Motherhood

What is the ROPA method and why do so many couples choose it? In this article, we'll tell you how this treatment is experienced at Fertilidad Integral and how we support every step towards shared motherhood.

At Fertilidad Integral, we reaffirm our commitment to inclusion. That's why one of our commitments is to make the ROPA Method (Reception of Oocytes from Partner) visible, a way to build motherhood from shared love, where in a couple of women, both can participate biologically and emotionally throughout the entire process.

Did you know that in Mexico, since 2022, equal marriage is a reality throughout the country?¹

This big step has been a light, allowing more and more women couples to explore their options for building their dreams.

In fact, in the last three years, the ROPA method has gained ground among homoparental couples in Mexico:

2022: around 42,148 Assisted Reproductive Technology procedures were performed, including IVF and ROPA (IMARC, 2022).

2023: the fertility services market grew by 9.5% annually (Bonafide Research, 2023).²

2024: The in vitro fertilization (IVF) segment in Mexico reached approximately USD 152.4 million, exceeding USD 130 million from the previous year.³

2025: clinics report sustained demand for ROPA, driven by greater inclusion and social visibility of diverse families.

What does this treatment consist of?

The ROPA method (Reception of Oocytes from Partner) is an alternative for two women to share motherhood from the beginning: one contributes the eggs and the other gestates the pregnancy, creating a deep, biological, and emotional bond.

We'll tell you how it works, in a close and simple way:

Contributing Life: One of the mothers, the "genetic mother," undergoes a gentle ovarian stimulation, meaning we use lower doses of hormonal medication compared to conventional ovarian stimulation, seeking to obtain high-quality eggs.

Uniting the Magic: These eggs are fertilized in our laboratory with donor sperm, previously chosen by the couple and guaranteed under the strictest quality standards.

Preparation: The other mother, who will carry the pregnancy, prepares with medication so that her endometrium is ready at the time of embryo transfer.

The Big Moment: The embryo, fruit of your love and science, is transferred to the gestating mother's uterus to begin its growth.

In this way, this procedure is an experience where the active participation of both becomes the pillar of a lifestyle that embraces co-motherhood from the very beginning.
